About Emily:
Emily was born July 14, 1996 near Lansing, MI. Her middle name was
Taylor, after Elizabeth Taylor. I adopted her on a snowy day. When
she first arrived at my house, she grabbed an empty milk bottle from
the recycle bin and had me chase her all around the backyard,
tumbling through the snow, playing keep away with that milk bottle.
Emily lived in Lansing, Mich.; Miami & Miami Beach, Fla.; Farmington
Hills, Mich.; and finally Conshohocken, Penn.
Emily liked to go on two hour walks on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
She was curious , smart and an excellent hunter (lizards, squirrels,
bunnies, deer). She liked to snooze in the shady grass on a summer
day. She was like a living teddybear, letting little kids pet and
hug her. She always had a kiss for everyone. Emily loved her sister
dog, Poco Chanel, who passed away July 19, 2005.
She enjoyed seeing her doggy friends in the apartment complex where
we lived-- Jobe, Norton, Woof, Braxton, Guinness, Annie, Lana, Bacon
and so many others. She enjoyed the care and friendship of Loretta,
her wonderful dogwalker, who gave her a nice walk at midday, and a
treat. Loretta was the last person who saw her alive.
Emily died on the evening of August 13, 2008 of smoke
inhalation, trapped in our apartment during a massive 8-alarm
fire at the Riverwalk at Millenium Apartments in Conshohocken.
The fire started at an adjacent construction site at 4:52 pm,
and by the time I got back from work, half the apartment complex
was an inferno. Montgomery County SPCA's Animal Rescue Crew
recovered her body two days later from the ruins. Emily was 12
years old, and a very sweet dog whom everyone loved.
